Harry Kane returned to the starting lineup for Bayern Munich as they staged a comeback to defeat Stuttgart 3-1 in the Bundesliga last Friday. Although he did not score or provide an assist, Kane expressed his excitement over the team’s victory.
On his Instagram post, Kane wrote, “An incredible moment! Huge win! Great team performance away from home!!” The victory extended Bayern’s lead over Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
However, Leverkusen managed to cut the gap to eight points after securing a 4-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. With ten matches remaining, the Bundesliga title is not yet fully secured for Bayern.
Bayern’s Performance and Kane’s Role
Despite not scoring against Stuttgart, Kane played a crucial role in the team’s performance. Bayern’s three goals were netted by Michael Olise, Leon Goretzka, and Kingsley Coman after Angelo Stiller had put the hosts ahead.
Kane has been Bayern’s key player this season, registering 21 goals and eight assists in the Bundesliga. The win strengthened Bayern’s position at the top, though Leverkusen remains in pursuit.
With an eight-point lead, Bayern has a strong chance of winning the Bundesliga this season. If they maintain this margin, Bayern fans could start celebrating the title as early as May 3, when they face RB Leipzig.
For Harry Kane, winning the Bundesliga would mark the first major league trophy of his career. Before joining Bayern in the summer of 2023, Kane had several close calls with silverware at Tottenham Hotspur but always fell short in the final stages.
During his time at Tottenham, Kane finished as Premier League runner-up in the 2016/17 season and lost in the finals of the League Cup in 2015 and 2021, as well as the Champions League final in 2019. Bayern’s domestic dominance was one of the main reasons Kane opted to join the German giants.
Before Kane’s arrival, Bayern had won 11 consecutive Bundesliga titles. Now, the English striker is on the verge of finally lifting a league trophy.
Challenges Ahead
Despite holding an eight-point advantage, Bayern cannot afford to be complacent. Leverkusen, under the management of Xabi Alonso, still poses a threat and could capitalize on any slip-ups from Bayern.
The remaining ten matches will be a crucial test for Bayern and Kane. If they can maintain their current form, the Bundesliga trophy is almost certainly theirs.
For Kane, this is a golden opportunity to end his title drought and cement a new chapter in his career. Bayern fans are hopeful that Kane will be a catalyst for the team’s continued success for the remainder of the season.
